SIP 2025 - Senior Independent Project
As part of the requirements to receive the international bilingual academic baccalaureate diploma, 12th grade students carry out independent research work known as SIP. This project is guided by the teacher of the subject that bears the same name (SIP) and advised by different professionals from the institution, assigned to each student according to the objective of their work and the professional’s area of expertise.
Developing scientific research skills and commitment to science becomes essential in a world where the multiculturalism of knowledge, ideas, technologies and ways of seeing, understanding and acting are so evident, which is why one of the fundamental objectives of the SIP course It will be to develop research skills in students that allow them to transcend their own knowledge and demonstrate it through their own scientific research.
At the end of this course, it is expected that students will have acquired various skills in the field of scientific research that will be useful for their university life. They will also present a thesis-style research work which will contain the fundamental parts of it and will report on this process in a final presentation. Finally, students must account for the management of their bilingualism, since those SIPs written in English must be supported in Spanish and vice versa.
Como parte de los requisitos para recibir el diploma de bachiller académico bilingüe internacional, los estudiantes de grado 12 llevan
a cabo un trabajo de investigación independiente conocido como SIP. Este proyecto es orientado por el docente de la asignatura que
lleva el mismo nombre (SIP) y asesorado por diferentes profesionales de la institución, asignados a cada estudiante según el objetivo
de su trabajo y el área de experticia del profesional.
Desarrollar habilidades de investigación científica y de compromiso con la ciencia se hace fundamental en un mundo donde la
multiculturalidad de conocimientos, ideas, tecnologías y formas de ver, entender y accionar son tan evidentes, es por ello que uno de
los objetivos fundamentales del curso SIP será desarrollar en los estudiantes habilidades investigativas que permitan trascender en su
propio conocimiento y demostrarlo mediante una investigación científica propia.
Al finalizar este curso se espera que los estudiantes hayan adquirido diversas habilidades en el campo de la investigación científica
que les servirá para su vida universitaria. También presentarán un trabajo de investigación estilo tesis de grado el cual contendrá las
partes fundamentales de esta y darán cuenta de este proceso en una presentación final. Finalmente, los estudiantes deberán dar
cuenta del manejo de su bilingüismo, puesto que aquellos SIPs escritos en inglés deberán ser sustentados en español y viceversa.
